WHAT IS CTE?
Career and Technical Education programs provide additional learning opportunities for Philadelphia students to develop professional skills and receive intensive training and instruction outside the traditional classroom curriculum.

WHAT DOES A CTE PROGRAM LOOK LIKE?
Three-year, competency-based program beginning in 10th grade and consisting of 1,080 total hours of instruction;
Includes rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards, and relevant career and technical content in a coordinated, non-duplicative progression of courses that align secondary education with post-secondary education to adequately prepare students to succeed in post-secondary education;
Guided by industry professionals, Dobbins prepares students for college and career by providing innovative and meaningful career and technical training, which is necessary for life-long learning and marketable credentials for high-wage/high demand careers.
Leads to an industry-recognized credential or certificate at the post-secondary level or an associate or baccalaureate degree, and;
Includes the opportunity for secondary education students to participate in dual or concurrent enrollment programs, and other ways to acquire post-secondary education credits.
