The Murrell Dobbins CTE HS Sports Marketing & Management program
The Murrell Dobbins CTE HS Sports Marketing & Management introduces students to the
exciting careers available in the sports and entertainment industries other than being an
athlete. Students learn the role of marketing, advertising and promotion in the sport and
entertainment industries. Emphasis is placed on business concepts, sports and entertainment
marketing, and management. Internships and student projects are also an integral part of the
program. Students compete in DECA competitions. NOCTI Exam in grade 12 gives career and
college credit.
The program emphasizes the management, business, and leadership skills necessary to launch
or enhance the sports business career. Reflected in the curriculum are the present issues in
today’s global sports industry and how integrating what is learned in the classroom can be
immediately applicable to the workplace.

Career Opportunities: Marketing Coordinator, Marketing Representative, Promotional
Marketing, Sales, and Public Relations
Certifications: Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certifications in Word, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint, and Pennsylvania Skills Certificate.

College Advanced Credits: Upon successful completion of this program of study, through the
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Students Occupationally and Academically Ready (SOAR)
initiative, qualified students can receive college credit for their participation in a career and
technical education program. Some of the participating institutions are Montgomery County
Community College, Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and Lackawanna College. Visit
